We are looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst working from our New York, NY, Chicago, IL or Denver, CO office. This Actuarial role will be supporting the Professional Lines at Argo with a focus in D&O and E&O insurance. We seek for an individual that has the ability to take ownership of our business portfolio and provide direction to business partners regarding optimization of the portfolio. Our expectation is of working independently, problem-solve issues, and bring fresh ideas for improvements to the team.

What does an Actuarial Analyst Team Member’s day to day duties look like:

  • Guide & support business units related to Professional Lines with a focus in Directors & Officers and Errors & Omissions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to management and other functional areas.
  • Ownership of business unit(s) and direct relationship with respective business partners.
  • Work closely with business partners and provide direction to them on ways to improve portfolio performance.
  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance.
  • Use of R and SQL for data management.
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects.
  • Broad overall knowledge of insurance.
  • Predictive modeling experience or desire to learn.
  • Detail-oriented and able to quickly evaluate accuracy of information.
  • Work closely with underwriting, claims, IT, operations and finance areas within Argo.
  • Experience with rate filings.


What’s required for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Finance related field; Bachelor's degree in Statistics and/or Actuarial Science preferred.
  • ACAS or 5+ exams in current pursuit of ACAS.
  • Experience with Professional Lines with either D&O and/or E&O experience.
  • Experience with at least one coding language (SQL, R, Python, SAS, VBA, etc.).
  • At least 5+ years’ of pricing experience in property & casualty.
  • Broad overall knowledge of insurance.
  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to management and other functional areas.
  • Ability to interact and work within a team environment and approach actuarial work as collaborative product. 
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects.
  • Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to quickly evaluate accuracy of information.
  • Proficient PC skills developed through extensive use of Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word).
